Donations

We work to improve the health, wellbeing and quality of life of older people living in the LS21 area, by providing activities and services to help them live independently and remain socially involved with the local community.

We are an established local resource for older people to find solutions to many of the problems they face.

Whilst much of our funding is provided by Leeds City Council, we address shortfalls in our funding through fundraising activities, donations and by applying to grant giving bodies. Securing much needed funds to ensure we can continue providing vital support is always a challenge.

If you would like to support us, or if you/a family member has received support from us, then we would be grateful if you would consider making a donation to us.

THERE ARE MANY WAYS YOU CAN HELP

DONATIONS

You can make a donation to OAOP by cash/cheque/bank transfer or by clicking here Donations Please make cheques payable to Otley Action for Older People and drop them into our office on Crossgate, Otley, LS21 3AA.

STANDING ORDERS

Some of our supporters are generous enough to have set up a monthly standing order. You can do this for any amount and is a brilliant way to show your support on a regular basis.

LEGACIES

Legacies are left through the donorโ€™s will or by a declaration to the executors with instructions on how and to which charity the legacy should be distributed. Charitable legacies reduce the amount of inheritance tax due from the estate.

There are two types of legacy:
1) Residuary bequests. Once the family and loved ones have been provided for, the remainder or a proportion of the deceasedโ€™s estate, is pledged to one or more charities.

2) Pecuniary bequests. This means that the deceased pledges a specific sum of money to a particular charity.

If you would like to consider this, we would suggest discussing it with your family and a solicitor.

GIFTS IN LIEU OF FLOWERS

Several families of OAOP members have asked for donations to OAOP in lieu of flowers at their loved ones funeral. We are always very touched by this, as it’s such a lovely thing to do and makes such a difference to our charity.

FUNDRAISING

Many local businesses have been kind enough to fundraise for us, raising much needed funds to ensure that we can continue with our vital support to our older community and develop new ways of providing assistance. If you would like to fundraise for us, please contact Sue or Jenny on 01943 463965

GIFT AID

Don’t forget that, if you are a UK tax payer, we can claim Gift Aid on any donation you make.
