HOMEPAGE

Otley Action For Older People is a long established and successful community-based organisation run by and for the older population of Otley and surrounding districts.

The project was first conceived in 1995, and then formally inaugurated as a charity in November 1996. The organisation set itself the clear “objectives” as listed in the Constitution and these have been our guiding principles for the last ten years:

“(i) The relief of older people in need in Otley and in particular the relief of poverty and the preservation of and protection of the good health of older people.

(ii) The advancement of the education of older people in the area of benefit in relation to financial, health, housing and welfare entitlements”.
Otley Action for Older People is managed through a voluntary Management Committee and in accordance with the terms of its Constitution.

During the year 2005 the Constitution was altered and ratified to include the districts of Pool-in-Wharfedale and of Arthington
We are particularly proud to have recently been involved in a project funded by Volunteering England that has enabled the organisation to achieve the Investing in Volunteers Award as a recognition of our professional standards working with volunteers.
